Morocco
Morocco…. So close, however so exotic! The mountainous central high Atlas region offers a great variety of landscapes: the cereal and fruit tree planted valleys in the Ahançal and Aït Bougmez; the 3000m high plateaux of the nomad Aït Attas, named after a group of Shepard brought goats, sheep and dromedaries from the South; the marvellous and colourful Taghia cirque and its white dolomite rock towers and canyons; No mentioning the well-kept adobe local art and architecture, a great sense of hospitality, and unforgettable moments shared with relaxed and welcoming locals.
Taghia- Aït Bougmez Valley – 6 or 9 days The trip starts in Marrakech. We leave town on day 2 for Zawiyat Ahançal where we stay at Youssef’s, our guide’s mountain inn, for the night. Then we hike up to Taghia, spend the night at Saïd’s mountain inn, a favourite in the climbing community. This is the starting point for the hight Atlas plateaux, through the “cork screw”. 3 hiking days will be necessary to reach the Aït Bougmez valley. Nights are spent under tents. Followed by a hike down to Tabant through orchards and plantations. After a night in a mountain inn, we hike back to Marrackech, where we invite you to spend some time visiting the “souk” (local market) and the Medina’s in the evening.
